Finally, no more guesswork is needed now as Adobe has announced, making it official for first time, that all CS5 orders made between March 26, 2012 and May 6, 2012 will get a free upgrade to CS6 once it’s released. See full offer details posted here at adobe.com.
If you’ve followed Adobe before, you probably know that they are extremely secretive when it comes to pre-announcing any product releases. Of course this made it difficult as you could really never know for sure when if it was a good time to buy or worth waiting for the next release to get the new version. Well, times have changed for the better. Beginning March 26, 2012 and running through May 6, 2012, all CS5 full and upgrade orders made at adobe.com will get a free upgrade to CS6 once it’s released in May 2012.
So who’s eligible? This deal is open to all orders made at Adobe.com between March 26 and May 6, 2012 made in the United States, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom. Once Creative Suite 6 is released, you’ll be able to download the upgrade to CS6 for free. There is not much more to it!
Why is it worth buying CS5 now? There are several groups that can benefit the most by getting CS6 now vs. waiting. First, if you are upgrading from a previous version, it’s cheaper if you do so from newer versions. So for example, a Photoshop CS4 upgrade to CS5 will cost less than an upgrade from CS3 to CS5. By getting the upgrade for free, you’re saving money by not waiting for the price to go up. Secondly, if you’re still working on a version of CS2, then this is your last chance to upgrade. If you wait, then you will no longer be eligible as Adobe Systems only offers upgrade discounts for those coming from versions that are not older than three versions back.
